Understanding Canada Post Tracking Numbers

A Canada Post tracking number consists of a combination of numeric and alpha-numeric digits. This tracking number can then be used to track a parcel or package that is being delivered to the US or internationally. The format of the Canada Post tracking number is a 13-digit or a 16-digit number depending on the type of service you opted for.

If you have shipped or ordered online, you most likely will receive a 16-digit number as your tracking number.
The format for shipping created online should look like this:

  • 0000 0000 0000 0000

On the other hand, if you acquired other services, you will receive a 13-digit alpha-numeric tracking number.
The format for the 13-digit alpha-numeric number should look like this:

  • AA 000 000 000 AA

Please note that only the sender can send you the tracking number. Canada Post doesn’t store the senders' information, contact number, and address.
